Almost anyone can benefit from dental implants. If you are an adult missing one or more teeth, implants can help restore your smile. If you avoid social situations because you are embarrassed by your smile or the way you talk, implants can boost your self-esteem, which can make you more successful in life.

If you are frustrated with dentures that always come loose or bridges that always break, you’ll love the stability of dental implants. They are screwed into the jawbone, so there is no risk of them coming out. They are very sturdy and look and function like real teeth. If you miss eating your favorite foods, you’ll be able to enjoy them once again when you choose dental implants.

Dental implants are also easy to care for. No special care is needed. Just brush and floss daily and see your dentist regularly to keep them in tip-top shape. While dental implants are not recommended for children, once a person’s face has fully developed, they can consider implants. Usually, this occurs in one’s late teens.

The two biggest downsides of dental implants are the cost and risk of infection. However, if you are generally in good health and are willing to make the investment of good dental care for life, then you will greatly benefit from dental implants.  No matter how many teeth you are missing, you can choose dental implants to improve your smile. Here are some of the dental implant options we offer:

  • Single tooth replacement. If you are missing just one tooth, you can opt for a bridge or an implant. An implant is more expensive, but also more durable and more natural-looking.
  • Multiple tooth replacement. If you are missing two or more teeth, implants are still an option. You can replace any number of teeth with implants, although the final cost could be quite pricey.
  • Dental implant supported bridge. You can opt for a bridge that, instead of crowns, uses dental implants. One implant would be used for every missing tooth to hold the bridge in place.
  • Dental implant supported denture. This is a type of overdenture that is attached to implants, which support the entire denture. This is a good option if you have enough jawbone to support implants.

If you are in good general health, you are likely a good candidate for dental implants. You must also have healthy gums and sufficient jawbone to support your implant.

Some patients will need to be evaluated in order to determine if dental implants are a good choice. Smokers and those with chronic conditions such as heart disease and diabetes may not be good candidates. Those who have had radiation therapy or who take certain medications may have weakened bones and would also not be good candidates. These conditions can lower success rates and delay the healing process. Talk to our dental implant dentist to see if you qualify.
